Voter List Revision or “Backdoor NRC”: Lessons From Assam
Tension ran high in Bihar on July 9 during the statewide INDIA bloc chakka jam to protest the voter list revision in the state. Party workers blocked main roads and railway stations, burned tyres, and raised slogans.
Among other accusations against the Election Commission, opposition leaders and experts have alleged that this is a backdoor NRC exercise. Some have drawn comparisons with Assam’s D-voter model.
